now it's 5.16 am in the morning. just finished catching up a new series on NTV7 - FRONTPAGE. i think its a new one.. not really though.. since i've been catching up until the 4th episode =p. but what i want to share with you is that i like this series!

after watching 2 episodes, i just knew that the director is Kabir Bhatia huahuahua he is one of my fav directors after his marvelous film CINTA. but i did not have a chance to watch his 2nd film yet ~ SEPI. maybe have to wait until i go back to Malaysia. really hard to find Malay movies online =( even on youtube i couldn't find one! please... somebody upload that movie for me hehehe

SYNOPSIS

Backstory
Dylan has climbed the proverbial ladder one step at a time. Although he is passionate about his work, Dylan believes in playing by the book - no gray areas, no crossing the lines. It annoys him to see Jack getting away with some of the things he does. And how Andrea lets him. Apparently the same rules do not apply to Jack as to everyone else.

Dylan is also less than happy with Jack and Andrea's past relationship. He suspects she still has feelings for Jack, although she denies it.

Andrea Ng

Age: 30
Editor, Newsdesk

Tough but fair

Backstory
Andrea knows as a woman handling the news desk of the country's biggest newspaper, she is always in the firing line -from the public, from the bosses, and from the journalists. There's always someone, somewhere who is displeased with her. She develops a tough exterior, but we see a more vulnerable side of her outside of work.

Andrea and Jack dated when she first joined the newspaper, but Jack's too much of a loner to ever really commit to anyone. Andrea is now dating Dylan, but in the back of her mind, she's always wondered if Dylan is with her for herself, or is it some twisted way of up one ship in his rivalry with Jack.

Nerina Rehman

Age: 23
Rookie Journalist

Personality
Idealistic, eager.

Backstory
Nerina had wanted to be journalist since she was in Standard 5 - when her expose on "ulat in the nasi lemak" in the school paper caused the school to change canteen operator and the other kids to think of her as a hero. She joins the newspaper in spite of her wealthy father's protests, fully intending to bring down the bad guys and rescuing the innocent. But Nerina is about to discover that the bad guys are sometimes the good guys.

Nerina has a huge crush on Jack, but he is intent on pushing her away. Nerina is unaware of Jack and Andrea's past, and wonders why Andrea is very sharp to her sometimes and overly protective at others.

Jack Lee

Age: 35
Senior Journalist, Newsdesk

Personality
Aloof, rebellious. Jack prefers to do things on his own and in his own way. He does not play by the rules and hates authority figures. He takes his job seriously and will not stop at anything to bring the truth to the people. But at the same time Jack has an emotional distance to his stories. He learned how to do that, the hard way.

Backstory
When Jack was a rookie reporter, he made a promise to a whistleblower of a corporate giant, to print his story. But Jack was shut down by his editor for lack of evidence. (or fear of retaliation by the corporation?) The whistleblower committed suicide. Jack felt responsible and it took a long time before he could forget (but not forgive himself).

Jack was offered to post of editor a few years back, but he refused. He is not a desk person, and he will never leave the street. Andrea accepted the position.

Lulu Chia

Age: 26
Senior Journalist, Lifestyle

Personality
Bubbly, caustic.

Backstory
Lulu has a sharp tongue, and a sharper pen. Her stories have embarrassed actresses, designers, record companies. She is someone everyone in the entertainment industry loves to hate. Lulu is not bothered when people tell her she's tak tahu malu. After all she's not making up the stories, she's just reporting them. Her view is - if you don't want it in the papers, don't do it.

Growing up, Lulu constantly struggled with issues of self-esteem. She was always big for her age, and her "unique" tastes in clothes became the butt of jokes. Lulu sees her position in the newspaper as divine retribution. It's her job to bring down all those beautiful people who made life miserable for people like her, people who are different

Rebecca Anuar

Age: 27
Senior Journalist

Tough, serious & cautious.

Backstory
Rebecca says what's on her mind, always. She appears cold, and arrogant, but her tough exterior hides a troubled past. At a young age, her father, an Englishman, abandoned her mother. To make ends meet, her mother worked as a cleaning lady (orang gaji) for a wealthy man. The man cared for both Rebecca and her mother very deeply and ended up marrying her mother. That was when Rebecca's nightmare started.

When she was 12, her "father" crept into her bed at night and all that was good and innocent in her died. Rebecca kept it to herself for a long time because first she was ashamed, and later because she saw how happy her mother was. She couldn't bear to take that away from her, and see her working as a maid again. At 13, Rebecca ran away from home. Her mother and stepfather found her and took her home. At 14 she attempted suicide by drinking poison. She was saved. At 15, begged to be sent to boarding school. Her stepfather objected, but Rebecca warned that she would kill herself.

In boarding school, Rebecca excelled in her studies, and every other girl hated her for her antisocial behavior. Her interest in journalism stemmed from the need to expose the truth. Once she left home, she never went back. She cut all ties with her mother, and her stepfather. After university, she joined the Tribune, and quickly became a top notch reporter. She has never had a relationship with any man. She left the Tribune, for The Voice because one of her colleagues "wanted to know her better (romantically)". Rebecca crumbles at the prospect of anyone getting to know her. Despite her facade of confidence, she always feels that she is spoiled goods, and not worthy to be loved. Or to love.

ok that is what the series is about. maybe you have heard about it or maybe you are following this series... doesn't matter. for those who are not even know about this series, watch it first. then judge it ~ i love to watch Jehan is this series. he is completely different, his acting is better than before (couldn't remember which series he was in before).

actually I'm not really into series.. really tired to catch up the episodes. but since living in Germany is 'so-bored-to-death' i don't have any choices other than following those TV series eg. dunia baru, sindarela and currently ku milikmu + frontpage. i didn't even follow any of korean, taiwan or japan series. weird huh? but i do know the story.. i mean if people talked about Full House then i know ~ owh its about a boy and this girl.. the story is like this.. the actor and actress are that one.

as far as i remember, i've only watched 2 series - my girl and winter sonata. that is before i came here. now.. i think it has been quite a number but still <10 hahaha what a loser. i do watch f.r.i.e.n.d.s and smallville... and i'm a die hard fan of CSI's. but still ~ countable.. compare to others mine was at the bottom three - i guess. well i've always loved movies.. that's the reason why. i only watched movie channels (Astro 40-42 : if there is no changing). and sometimes AXN for CSI's and sport channels only for Arsenal game.

maybe i need someone to push me.. 'watch this one, watch that series'.. just like what iman did to me. because of her suggestion and recommendation and promotion about MY GIRL, finally i watched it. it was damn good, i like it so much ~ thanks my dear. and after that i've been promoting this series to my friends. ahahahaha its really funny when someone who is not-a-series-fan influence others to watch a series!
